For those wonderful animals who have graced our lives we are truely greatful

In loving Memory of our wonderful dog

Cola

Cola at Grace FarmsMy sister helped me get Cola, I was too young to drive, and my parents didn't think we needed another dog.  But I knew I needed a special dog of my own, and that everyone would love her once she moved in!  As we were driving I was trying to think of a perfect name for this special dog.   My sister suggested the name Cola, as it means 'friend' in the Lakota Indian language.  It was the perfect name.  When I arrived home and was playing with my new friend, my dad asked with a smile, "how long are you going to be dog sitting this puppy?"  I told him, "For a long time!"  As a puppy I used to love the idea of taking her for walks, but I usually ended up carrying her home as it was too far for such a little pup.  We loved taking walks, and going to obidence classes.  She was so good at obidence that she won grand champion in showmanship and obidence at our fair!   I was so proud of her!I had to leave Cola behind during my college years.  My parents got along well with her.  I was always excited to visit her when I came back.  When I moved to Minnesota with a car  full of stuff, Cola was definately with me!  She was able to go to work with me everyday, and together we took care of some wonderful horses.  Cola went on many dates with Chris and I when we were first getting to know eachother.  Chris was smart, he'd bring chocolates for me and dog treats for Cola!   Cola went from being a one person dog to loving Chris...I was jealous.  In 2008 Chris and I got our own farm.  We were excited to move in, and to have the chance to have Cola work with us again.  She took her job very seriously.  She would greet each client at the door with a wagging tail, around 4:30 when the horses would come in Cola would keep the cats inline, and she would follow Chris and I around always checking the security of the farm.  And when she had the time she would always entertain us with her country music singing! For 14 years Cola has touched many lives with her gentle, loving way.  We are thankful that we had the chance to love such a wonderful friend!-Becca Leatherdale-
